Turned Christmas Tree Tealight Holder – Adventure in the Workshop

Christmas is a great time for making things. So what better reason to introduce my olders daughter to the lathe in this newest Adventure in the Workshop? She makes a Christmas Tree Tealight Holder from walnut. Her patience for sanding is not the best, but as she says, this way you know you made it yourself. Please enjoy and share! And as always, remember to be Inspired!

Death of Rats – Discworld Halloween Decoration

The Death of Rats has been guarding our home against supernatural incursions around Halloween for a few years now, but I finally got around to redoing it with a skeleton and a light show of its own. Let me show you how I made it, so that you can make your own – or something completely different! Please share this with your friends, and remember to be Inspired!

St. Ambrose Figurine for my Beehouse

I made this to go on my beehouse come spring, and it is based on an exhibit at a local museum. As the patron saint of beekeepers, St. Ambrose will probably not improve my beekeeping game, but at least it gave my lathe a chance to run off on me. Enjoy, and remember to be Inspired!

Mass Ornaments on the Table Saw

You can never have enough Christmas decoration, right? There is a technique called “Reifendrehen” that involves a lathe, but you can use the basic principle to make a bunch of similar pieces on your table saw as well to produce mass ornaments. Watch the video to see how it works, and read on for some additional considerations and a video (not mine) about the original technique. Enjoy, and remember to be Inspired!

The Scrap Tree – Christmas Ornament

It is that time of the year again – the time where I have too much wood in the shop. No, actually, it is almost Christmas. So why not do something that helps you out with both? I present to you the Scrap Tree, a simple yet effective decoration, and one that will reduce your scrap heaps in the process. And as even more of a gift from me to you, you can find the Template for a mini-version here! Merry Christmas, and remember to be Inspired!

Plants vs. Zombies inspired Garden Gnomes

You probably know that I love the Plants vs. Zombies games, and so it might not come as a surprise that I wanted to make something based on them. After a long wait, the time has finally come – garden gnomes that are also plants! And not gnomes at all. Let me know what you think! Also, please share it with anyone you know who has a Zombie infestation in their back yard. Enjoy, and remember to be Inspired!
